Born in Southern California and transplanted to Seattle her freshman year of high school, Meg went on to obtain a degree in Communications from the University of Washington. After studying abroad her junior year at the University of Sussex, Meg figured out what area of communications she was interested in and happily dove into the black hole that is the World Wide Web. She spent the last year of college immersed in programs that looked at how this new medium, the internet, was impacting communication practices and cultural behaviors all over the world.
Once graduated, Meg took a position with a small advertising agency, DNA Brand Mechanics. The size of the company, at the time, allowed her to weave in and out of various roles in Account Management, Print Production, and Interactive Management. She worked with a handful of regional brands such as PEMCO Insurance, BECU, Concur, and Multicare Health System and helped them raise awareness and capture market share from their national competitors.
After three years, Meg decided to see what life was like under the umbrella of a major corporation and accepted a position at Microsoft working with their MSN group on its eCommerce property. Subsequently, this group was whipped out by Live, and later Bing, but the experience proved valuable to Meg helping her develop a deep understanding of how to measure engagement and interaction on website properties.
Josh Dirks asked Meg to co-found a company that focused on humanizing brands a year later. This resulted in the creation of Social Creature Media. Meg is the Head Creature of Strategy and Contagious Content and manages the development and execution of all client communication strategies across various networks. She is valued for her flexibility, pragmatism and analytical mindset.
When Meg isn't sitting with a computer in her lap, she can be found playing volleyball, walking the family dog, beating her friends at Donkey Kong Country (Super Mario ONLY), tasting wines she cannot pronounce, or catching up on much needed sleep!
